Following information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Investigators in the US State of X were conducting a search warrant at the home of an individual suspected of possessing large amounts of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Having conducted a thorough search of the individuals computers and mobile devices, none of which contained any illegal material the investigator noticed an external Hard Disk Drive plugged into a Sony Play Station games console. Initial examination of this device showed nothing of note and the investigators decided to scan the drive with Cyacomb Examiner to completely rule it out of their investigation.
Within 20 seconds the scan had detected the first piece of illegal material. The scan resulted in the detection of over 25,000 of the most serious CSAM images, all of which had been deleted prior to the external drive being used with the games console.
Other triage tools had failed to detect the presence of this material.
As a result of Cyacomb technology in excess of 425,000 images were identified.
