Q. How would you describe your role with Cyacomb?
My role at Cyacomb involves working with colleagues to grow and build Cyacomb’s story and to communicate the game-changing ability of our technology.
I help to deliver our marketing strategy and it's a really exciting time for the company as we continue to move into new regions. One day I'm supporting with international event activity, the next day I could be creating email marketing campaigns and social media content. It's a varied role and it's exciting working for a company who are shaking things up in their field.
I’ve been involved in a wide variety of exciting projects which has allowed me to collaborate with the wonderfully talented team across the company.
Q. Tell us about your career journey that led you to Cyacomb
After studying Marketing at Edinburgh Napier University, I worked in marketing within a local authority before moving into the Events industry working for an Event Management company. I then moved back to a marketing role working with exciting small businesses which supported their development and helped amplify their stories. I was delighted to head back to my University routes in Edinburgh when I joined Cyacomb in January 2021.
Q. What attracted you to join Cyacomb?
After working with exciting high growth businesses in a previous role I had a great respect for the new innovative companies who were breaking new ground in their respective fields. I was really keen to immerse myself in an exciting company who had a real vision of where they wanted to be and how they wanted to get there. Cyacomb’s tools tackle some of societies most heinous crimes and that was a massive draw for me. The power and potential of the technology was a massive draw when I saw the vacancy with Cyacomb and I was really excited to get to work and help share that story and journey.
Q. What aspects of your job and working for Cyacomb do you enjoy the most?
As a Marketing Executive, I’m lucky to get to speak with colleagues as part of this exact same ‘Meet The Team’ blog series! As a result, I know most of them say working with a super talented group of individuals is a great perk of the job and I’d have to agree. Although not always working directly with our end users, I have a great respect for the job they do and it’s great hearing how our technology is supporting the vital work they undertake.
Q. Do you have any goals or targets in mind for the future with Cyacomb?
I don’t have any specific goals in mind. I’ve saw first hand how much can be achieved in a few years so I’m mostly looking forward to seeing where the company will be in another few years time. Much like my colleagues across the company, I’m focussed on pushing forward and supporting one another to tell our story and get our technology into the hands of those who need it most!
Q. What advice would you give to anyone starting out in your line of work?
Very cliché but I would say treat others how you’d expect to be treated. Whether that’s for internal or external stakeholders, it’s always served me well – we’re all doing our best and being mindful of this makes for great working relationships.
Q. If you could instantly have one new skill or talent, what would it be?
Easy question. It would be the skill of being lucky enough to get Glastonbury tickets every year. That ballot is a stress-inducing nightmare and the FOMO when you don’t get the tickets is horrendous. Everyone needs a week in a field listening to music and drinking beer!
Q. What do you like to do in your spare time away from work?
In my spare time I travel and attend music concerts with my better half. I’m also into sports so I’ll be at Celtic Park most weekends and if not there I’ll be watching football (soccer and NFL!) on TV. If there’s any spare time in between the above then I’ll usually be walking our dog Eddy or making a mess trying to be the next Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen.
