Guardians For Good: Episode 1 with Debbie Garner
At Cyacomb, we have the privilege of meeting many people who work at the forefront of digital forensics, child protection, and online safety. We benefit from hearing their insights, stories, and experiences, and we wanted to share these with as many people as possible, creating a space for those within this committed community to engage in thought-provoking discussions around a multitude of topic areas.
In our first episode Cyacomb CEO Ian Stevenson, is joined by Debbie Garner, ICAC Commander (Retired), Policy Advocate and NerdCop (the term she invented in support of Digital Forensics Experts). Debbie is firmly at the heart of this community and having crossed paths with many of the team at Cyacomb, we are proud to have her as our first guest.
Debbie spent 30 years at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as a special agent in charge of GBI’s child exploitation and computer crimes unit. She's built a wealth of practical experience and is a passionate and effective advocate for our mission through work for Raven and others. In this episode, Ian and Debbie discuss the community of those fighting crimes against children, what has changed over the years, the biggest challenges faced by law enforcement, the future of this crime type, technological advances and more. Tune in to hear Debbie's insights, stories and experiences through her work within law enforcement, with Raven and others.
"The biggest stressor in many offices is the fact that investigators and examiners have information sitting in their computer that would help rescue a child and they know that they'll never get to them. That is often devastating to them."
